Death Valley Blues Band vs Amu : my perspective

Filmed for SABC3's Jam Sandwich, this track was the child of 4 days of drama and shit that had 2 members of the band quit and numerous scars appear in the fabric of our reality.

For starters Ampie Omo was not allowed to be with us for the filming - this was a huge blow to me as Ampie had become an invaluable part of DVBB. He was the voice of reason in a cloudy room. Not having him there was a BIG set back for me personally. Secondly, we were the first artists to go through this process and the studios were not finished being built so we were recording against the back drop of workmen and chaos.

I'll stop moaning for a second to say that it was a pleasure to work with Amu. The prospect of working with as crazy a bunch as dvbb is enough to make most musos back away but he embraced us and even let us into hs house to meet his Mum. Kudos. We had great fun in the times where there was less people around to make noise.

I found the writing of this tune nearly impossible. The system with DVBB generally has been one of "jam it till it's sweet" but the limited time and pressure of everyone to get their voices heard made the already steaming pressure even ... steamier.

After all is said and done we did get the job done to the best of our ability. Would I do it again? Hell yes. But I would definatly do it differently.
